The RCMP have begun their investigation into inappropriate spending by some Senators and it’s not a pretty picture.
Apparently, the Mounties have all kinds of documents that show that both Patrick Brazeau and Mac Harb gave false information about their place of residence so they could collect a housing allowance cheque.
Of course, the Mike Duffy chapter of this scandal is well known by now.
Duffy made the same claim even though he’s owned a house in Ottawa for years and then, there’s the added problem with the payoff he received from a member of the Prime Minister’s staff.
By the way, you’ll notice that MP’s , even the Opposition MP’s aren’t making much noise about this shady activity.
That’s because they also don’t tell Canadians how they spend our tax dollars but they don’t really want to draw attention to that fact.
I’m not suggesting that all MP’s and Senators are guilty of scamming the system or squandering our tax dollars.
The problem is, we don’t demand much accountability from our politicians and then we get upset when we discover that some of them take advantage of the situation to rip off taxpayers.
In light of the Senate scandal, we should be insisting on an itemized accounting of how these people spend our money.
Time and time again, they refuse to do so, which begs the question, what are they hiding ?
