Just when you thought the toga party was over, Toronto mayor Rob Ford is back in the news after being caught on video celebrating on the streets over the weekend.
Seems he was enjoying a “couple of beers” at the Taste of the Danforth when social media tasted blood, again.
In the YouTube video Ford can be seen swaying back and forth while having pictures taken, apparently slurring, certainly confirming to everyone, “I’m not driving”. At least that part is good, and really all I care about.
I couldn’t care less what people do in their off hours but yes it is distracting from city business.
That will play out in the next election.
But what I find most fascinating in all of this is, why is the mayor constantly shooting himself in the foot?
Most of us can think of many ways he could be drawing less attention to himself rather than fueling the wild fire.
That advice seems to bounce off his football helmeted head.
His ‘common man’ approach has served him well to this point, but even the common man learns from his mistakes.
That’s where Ford falls short of a first down.
I’m Scott Thompson.
