The recent activities (including an arrest) with the SIU investigation of a Toronto police officer who shot and killed a suspect on a street car, must have one Hamilton family wondering why their case isn’t drawing as much attention.
The viral video of the Sammy Yatim street car shooting has been seen by over a million viewers.
That no doubt played a role in the quick decision to charge the officer and move the case along.
When Hamilton Police shot and killed Steve Mesic after an encounter on the LINC no one was recording the incident.
Video surveillance is a win/win as both sides of the story are seen.
With today’s technology and the world our police live in, every situation should be recorded.
Why isn’t every officer equipped to have an encounter recorded?
Our taxi cabs even have it for their protection.
Why not our cops and the citizens they protect?
