What in the world is Ed Hervey doing?
The rookie general manager of the Edmonton Eskimos went way too far when he tore a strip off his club yesterday.
I understand why Hervey went in front of the media to talk about how disappointed he is at the fact Edmonton is 1-and-8.
They’ve lost 7 straight games, the franchise’s longest losing streak since 1971.
I agree that changes need to be made in Edmonton, including bringing in some new players.
That’s going to be the case when you’re 1-and-8.
Tiger-Cats fans had to endure that song and dance just a few short years ago.
But I think Hervey crossed the line when he publicly criticized offensive lineman Simeon Rottier.
Hervey said, “The majority of my frustration has been with Simeon… clearly Simeon is not living up to expectation… it wouldn’t bother me if he didn’t play another down this year.”
Hervey should have left that last part out.
Your players are your guys, you have to treat them like pros.
If Hervey wants to rebuild the Eskimos, fostering a family atmosphere doesn’t appear to be a top priority.
