Hamilton’s homicide unit is now in charge after four people were stabbed in central Hamilton.
Police have been holding the scene since last night, and will be in the area of Eastbourne Avenue and Holton Avenue South all day as they investigate what they now say was an attempted murder.
This, after an 18-year-old woman and her child suffered stab wounds before fleeing a home on Holton South.
A man driving a minivan saw the woman and child last night and picked them up.
Police say the man did not know them.
They got around the corner and the minivan hit a pickup truck.
A suspect is under guard at hospital.
The woman and her baby are in stable condition in hospital and the Good Samaritan has been treated for slash wounds to his hands.
No charges have been laid.
