The 1-1 Mac Marauders meet the 2-0 Western Mustangs on Saturday, at a sold-out Ron Joyce Stadium.
Western beat U of T 50-14 in week one, then lambasted Carlton 71-4 on Labour Day.
The Mustangs are averaging 712 yards in offence per game, leading the OUA, and they’re also first in average yards rushing per game, 269 and in passing yards, 443. However, those numbers have to be tempered a bit, because of the quality of opponents they faced.
In the last 9 games Mac is 5-4 against Western, and Mac has won the last three in a row.
That includes the 42-28 win in the semi-final last year, a 33-27 win at home in the regular season, and 41-19 in the 2011 Yates Cup.
In the six years that Ron Joyce Stadium has been opened, Mac is 18-3 in the regular season and 5-0 in the playoffs, for an overall record of 23-3.
Their last home loss, was on September 10, 2011, when they were beaten by Western, 50-19.
Since that game, they’ve won 12 straight games at home.
CHML broadcast time Saturday, is 1 pm.
