The first week of Project Protector is now complete.
That’s a Hamilton Police Service initiative in which officers are placed on school buses to watch for drivers who fail to stop as required, while a marked cruiser follows along ready to respond.
Police say they’ve charged four motorists with failing to stop for the red lights of a school bus, a violation that carries a fine of 490 dollars.
They’ve also issued a pair of warnings since students headed back to class on Tuesday..
All violations were on multi-lane roadways and generally in the afternoon.
The initiative is specific to Hamilton Mountain and suburban areas which are policed out of Division 30.
