The province’s police watchdog is investigating after a pedestrian was seriously injured during a chase involving Hamilton Police.
According the the Hamilton Spectator, it happened just before 10:30 Saturday night as police pursued a speeding car eastbound on Herkimer Street south of the downtown core.
The car reportedly struck another vehicle at Hess Street South and one of the vehicles crashed into a bus shelter.
A 50-year old pedestrian at the intersection was struck and critically injured.
The driver of the speeding car and two occupants from the second car suffered what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit is involved whenever a member of the public is killed or injured as a result of police action.
