Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books, and its time to hand out some early grades.
At the top of the class among Week 1 winners, an A-plus for the Broncos, 49ers and Eagles.
Peyton Manning and Denver was dominant… San Francisco beat a really good Packers team… and the Eagles came out with a bang and won a tough inter-division road game.
The Saints, Bears and Lions all leave the first week of class with an A.
They too played spirited games and beat playoff teams from a year ago.
I’ll hand out B’s to the Chiefs, Rams, Titans, Cowboys, Seahawks and Dolphins.
They played well in week 1, and aside from Tennessee and Miami, were all favoured to win their opening games.
I wasn’t too impressed with the Patriots, Colts, Texans and Jets… so they get C’s.
New England, Indy and Houston won their games, but in less than impressive fashion.
And the Jets won a game against the Bucs that Tampa, more of less, gave to them.
The biggest disappointments among the Week 1 losers has to be the Giants, Redskins and Steelers.
New York and Washington didn’t seem ready, but at least they lost to quality opponents.
Pittsburgh is just a mess, and now with an injury riddled lineup, is in a world of hurt.
