An argument over a stolen pack of smokes has resulted in mischief and assault charges.
Hamilton Police were called to a group home on Concession Street last night after two men known to each got into an argument which escalated into a fight after one of the men was accused of stealing cigarettes.
A staff member of the home intervened and attempted to call police but had the phone smashed by the suspect.
The suspect then threatened the victim if police were called. The staff member was eventually able to make a 911 call, and was assaulted once police arrived.
The 48 year old suspect was arrested and held for a bail hearing. The 32-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
