The Police Chief has offered condolences to the widow of a man who was shot and killed by Hamilton Police over three months ago.
Chief Glenn DeCaire did so prior to the start of this afternoon’s police board meeting where a few dozen supporters of Sharon Dorr have filled the meeting room.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit continues to probe the shooting and has yet to release its findings.
Expanding the use of Tasers amongst front-line officers is the main item on today’s agenda.
A report suggests that the city be asked to cover the almost one million dollar cost of purchasing more of the stun guns and training officers to use them.
The province recently announced that all officers can now carry Tasers, not just supervisors and tactical teams.
