The City of Hamilton has created a pipeline response unit.
It includes members of the fire department, emergency services, and various public works departments.
It is part of a planning effort brought about by concerns over the Enbridge plan to reverse the flow of oil in the so-called “Line 9″ pipeline that runs through Flamborough.
Enbridge representative Kevin Hall says in over the 37 years Line 9 has been operating, there have been 13 spills and almost all leaked less than 10 barrels.
He says if a spill occurred, Enbridge would come in and do the clean up no matter who is responsible.
It would then seek to recoup the costs if a third party is responsible.
