The Hamilton Fire Department was called out to perform a high angle rescue late this morning after a cyclist fell from the escarpment near the Ancaster Mill restaurant.
It took about two hours to get the 20-year-old woman to safety. It’s not clear exactly how it happened but there are no safety barriers or curbs along Old Dundas Road where she was biking.
The woman was airlifted by an Ornge air ambulance and is being treated for serious injuries at Hamilton General Hospital.
Old Dundas Road was closed to traffic at the restaurant during the rescue.
