TERRA will hand out its Purple Pepper Awards for excellence in edible gardens at its Waterdown location Saturday.
The finalists will receive their garden plaques during a presentation that will begin at 11 o’clock.
Best Edible Container Garden:
1st place – Kate Lambacher of Burlington
2nd place – Sandra Blakley of Georgetown
3rd place – Shar Sigurdson of Burlington
Best Edible Garden by a Child or Children:
1st place – Stacey Allen-Cillis of Hamilton
2nd place – Sheilah Hogan-McDonald of Binbrook
3rd place – Naomi Coffey of Georgetown
Best Edible Balcony Garden:
1st place – Debra Meikle of Milton
2nd place – Kyrinne Lockhart of Hamilton
3rd place – Jessica Peter of Hamilton
Best Edible Garden:
1st place – Susan Hoeksema of Millgrove
2nd place – Karen Mattan of Georgetown
3rd place – June Gunn of Flamborough
Most Exotic Edible Garden:
1st place – Hanni Rana of Burlington
2nd place – Timothy Burrows of Burlington
There were nearly 200 entrants in five categories.
The top three gardens were selected in each category, based on photos submitted, and then TERRA’s group of judges set out to look at the 15 gardens.
The application process was open to all Ontario residents over the months of June and July.
