The City of Hamilton may be dangling up to a million dollars in grant money to try and preserve the five Gore Park buildings slated for demolition.
The money would be made available if the five buildings were preserved and designated as historic.
Council is to vote on the program Wednesday.
The city’s Urban Renewal General Manager Glenn Norton says the idea is to encourage developers to preserve heritage buildings.
Meantime, the man behind the Gore Park Development, David Blanchard says the cash incentive may not be enough to save the structures he describes as falling down.
