Two Hamilton residents, charged with animal cruelty, are scheduled to appear in court today.
They were charged earlier this month after a man brought a dog in serious medical distress to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA, claiming he had found the dog.
The Animal Protection Officer was taken to an emergency veterinarian where it was determined the dog had been suffering for a significant period of time.
Officials determined the dog had to be euthanized.
The two individuals were charged with allowing an animal to be in distress and failing to comply with standards of care.
