The fight to renovate a transitional home for federal parolees will continue at Tuesday’s meeting of the planning committee.
John Clinton, the Executive Director of St. Leonard’s House, will be back before Hamilton politicians seeking the necessary zoning approvals.
St. Leonard’s has been operating out of the same century-old home on Emerald Street South for almost four decades.
Clinton’s goal is to make the facility accessible and bring it up to current standards.
St. Leonard’s provides services and housing to federal parolees as they transition back into the community.
Some city politicians have indicated that they’d prefer to see the residence move, rather than renovate.
The issue could wind up in the hands of the Ontario Municipal Board, if City Council chooses to stand in the way of the upgrades.
