A 260 thousand dollar grant from ArcelorMittal Dofasco and its employees will ensure safe and affordable temporary housing for women who are at risk and struggling with the impact of poverty, homelessness and violence.
YWCA Hamilton has received the grant to support renovations to its Transitional Living residence.
Denise Doyle, CEO of YWCA Hamilton, notes that “women come to us after complex, painful journeys, some as young as 16.”
She adds that the generosity of ArcelorMittal Dofasco will allow us to provide them “with a comfortable and uplifting space to heal and recover while they transition into independent living.”
The grant includes $250,000 from the steelmaker’s Corporate Community Investment Fund and $10,000 from Dofasco’s Employee Donations Fund
