Just two days after it was unveiled, statues of Wayne Gretzky in Brantford have been defaced.
Police say the two statues outside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre have been vandalized with blue spray paint.
A videotape that captures the vandalism has been forwarded to police.
Mayor Chris Friel says it’s “disgraceful” and a “crime against the community.”
Crews cleaned off the spray paint yesterday.
One of the statues depicts Gretzky holding the Stanley Cup and wearing his Edmonton Oilers jersey.
The other shows him as a child with his parents, Walter and Phyllis.
