While police have never found a body in the disappearance of a developmentally disabled woman from Stoney Creek, a woman has pleaded guilty in connection with the case.
Melinda Evans entered a guilty plea to improperly interfering with human remains, after burying the body of her Aunt in a shallow grave.
She also admitted to fraud over 5-thousand dollars for continuing to cash her Aunt’s disability cheques, and has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Hamilton police believe Shirley Treadwell died of natural causes in 2009 but her death was never reported.
The investigation sparked a high profile search of fields off Barton Street in 2012.
