A transit-only lane will be introduced later this month along a section of King Street West.
The lane is the result of a one-year pilot project that was approved several months ago by Hamilton City Council. It will be dedicated for exclusive use by buses and emergency vehicles, although taxis and DARTS vehicles will be allowed to stop briefly in the lane for passengers.
Signage and traffic markings will be installed over the next two weeks, from Mary Street to just short of Dundurn, and fines will apply to anyone else caught using the lane.
If all goes according to plan, it will take effect on the north side of King on Tuesday, October 22nd.
On-street parking between Bay and Locke will be moved to the south side of the street. New parking spaces will appear from Locke to Strathcona.
