However, in a wild sequence, the ball was booted into the endzone and recovered by the Gaels Aaron Gazendam for the touchdown and the victory.
Kick returner William Pitt-Doe of Mississauga, set a new Laurier single-season record for kick return yards late in the third quarter thanks to a 71-yard return. The rookie defensive back now has 560 yards on the season which ranks him fourth all-time in OUA history.
McMaster defeated Laurier 43-0 last year. The Golden Hawks head coach was Gary Jeffries, who was fired at the end of lat season, and is now, the Marauders special teams co-ordinator.
Former Western Mustang quarterback Michael Faulds is now Laurier’s head coach.
