A 21-year-old Burlington man is dead after his car plunged into Lake Ontario.
Halton Regional Police say officers were called to the foot of Walker’s Line in Burlington at around 9:45 Saturday morning after residents reported a car submerged upside down.
The lone occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name isn’t being released.
Police say it appears the 2007 Volkswagen mounted the dead end on Walker’s Line, went through a small parkette, crashed through a chain link fence and plunged into the lake below.
They think the single-vehicle crash happened at around 2 a-m, more than seven hours before the car was spotted.
The vehicle was finally pulled from the lake Saturday night.
