Here’s the thing about free speech , if you value your right to voice your views and your right to protest, then you’d better be ready to accept the fact that people with contrary points of view have those same rights and sometimes what they say and how they say it is going to rub you the wrong way.
Case in point is the anti abortion group that are doing pop up protests along the overpasses on the Linc.
Many people have complained about the graphic nature of the protests, others have complained about the message of the protest.
The protests have also sparked a debate about the morality and legality of abortion, which I suppose is just what they wanted to see happen, although I don’t think anything can be said that will sway anyone from their polarized positions on the issue.
Fact is, the protesters have done their homework; what they are doing is not illegal.
And while we may judge their message through our own moral filter, we need to remember this…..
One of the main pillars of our democracy is attributed to the writings of the French revolutionary , Voltaire ; I may disagree with you, but I will defend to the death, your right to express your opinion.
Easier said than done sometimes isn’t it ?
