The Hamilton Tiger Cats clinched 2nd place in the East with a dramatic 27-24 comeback win over Montreal Saturday afternoon in Guelph.
After exchanging punts to start the game, Montreal would get on the board first with a 14-yard Troy Smith touchdown pass to S.J. Green.
Montreal defense stepped up on the next drive as the ex Ticats cornerback Geoff Tisdale picked off Henry Burris and returned it 64-yards for the touchdown to make it 14-0 Montreal.
Josh Bartel conceded a safety after the snap wet over his head, and Luca Congi would tack on a 23-yard field goal, making it 16-3 for the Alouettes going into the locker rooms at halftime.
The Ticats got on the scoreboard first in the second half as Jeremiah Masoli hooked up with C.J. Gable for a 12-yard touchdown pass, Masoli’s first career TD toss.
Masoli was used primarily in Hamilton’s new wildcat formation and completed 1 of his 2 pass attempts while running 10 times for 61 yards, a team high.

Montreal extended its 6 point lead when Troy Smith hooked up with Duron Carter for a 63-yard touchdown.
Simoni Lawrence intercepted Smith which set up a Brandon Banks 45-yard rushing touchdown, as the Ticats cut into the Alouettes lead, 23-17.
Congi made it a three point game as he was good from 25-yards out, trimming the Al’s lead to 23-20.
Brandon Banks gave the Tiger-Cats their first lead of the day when he returned Sean Whyte’s 43 yard field goal attempt, which was short, 107-yards for a touchdown.
Up 27-23, Whyte’s second field goal try of the game was short from 41 yards out and Banks conceded the single, making the final score Hamilton 27, Montreal 24.
The 9-and-8 Ticats play next in Winnipeg against the 3-and-14 Blue Bombers on Saturday November 2 at 2pm on CHML.
