Hamilton Public Health Services is following its established process after confirming a case of Tuberculosis.
The individual, who works for the food services company Sodexo at Columbia International College, is currently receiving treatment.
Health officials stress that while they are now working to identify close contacts to that patient, and ensuring that they are tested for infection, “there is no ongoing risk to people attending or working at the school”.
Tuberculosis is a lung infection that can be spread to other people when they are in close, frequent contact with a sick person for a long period of time. Each year, Hamilton averages 20-to-25 cases of active TB.
