Some local environmentalists say they’re surprised to see that more than a dozen major oil and gas pipelines run through Hamilton.
And the director of city’s planning growth admits, Hamilton doesn’t have comprehensive information on the ages of the lines or the products that each one carries.
Guy Paparella is the head of a task force that is trying to get that information.
Environmentalist Don McLean is worried that each one of the lines could create a problem.
But Fire Chief Rob Simonds tells the CBC, he’s in regular discussions with energy companies and says he’s confident the procedures are in place to work together if a disaster were to occur.
