Hamilton’s newest Crime Prevention Centre has opened in our city.
The centre, at the corner of Barton and Wentworth, houses about a hundred volunteers who help deliver police service programs.
They include Red Light Runner, Lock it or Lose it, and Speed Watch.
The Crime Prevention Centre will also deliver community alerts to residents about issues or a crime.
Sergeant Barry Mungar says the impact on the community will be “dramatic” because it is in the hub of a busy area and people know where to go to get the information they need.
Other Hamilton Police Crime Prevention Centres in the city are located on Concession Street and in Waterdown.
The opening of the centre also coincides with the start of Crime Prevention Week in Hamilton.
