A Canadian Olympic gold medalist has helped celebrate the launch of a one of a kind program in Hamilton.
Former hockey star Cassie Campbell-Pascall served breakfast Tuesday morning as part of the “Meals that Heal” program at Ronald McDonald House.
“Meals that Heal” provides families who are staying at the house on Main Street West with a nutritious and balanced dinner every night while their critically ill children are being treated in hospital.
It is the first program of its kind amongst the 333 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide.
In its first seven months, the program has served over 12-thousand meals and saved families about 400-thousand dollars in out-of-pocket expenses.
