The owner and founder of Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo will make one more plea to keep a number of banned snakes and reptiles.
Hamilton’s General Issues Committee has agreed to hear again from Steve Featherstone and Paul Goulet at a meeting on November.20th.
Councillors made no move to stop enforcement efforts against the Barton Street facility at a meeting back in September, giving Little Ray’s until December.7th to rid itself of banned creatures.
At least one councillor, Scott Duvall, has changed his tune since then after touring the business.
He suggests that it is more of a solution than a problem.
Many of the banned reptiles at Little Ray’s, which include pythons, crocodiles and alligators, were once kept illegally by Hamilton residents.
Five councillors voted against hearing the final plea from Featherstone and Goulet. Councillor Brian McHattie stresses that the issue has been dealt with and the integrity of the
Responsible Pet Ownership by-law must be protected.
