Three minutes later Calle Jarnkrok scored on the power play to make it 2-0 and that is how the teams went into the first intermission.
Mid-way through the second period is when it all came unraveled.
Starting at 10:52 the Griffins would score four goals in a 1:13 span. Andrej Nestrasil, Calle Jarnkrok, Mitch Callahan, and Teemu Pulkkinen scoring for the visitors.
40 minutes in the books and Grand Rapids led 6-0.
Hamilton would win the third period as Sven Andrighetto scored his 5th of the season to avoid the shutout.
