Hamilton homicide detectives say they’ve spoken with a number of key witnesses and have valuable information regarding the shooting death of a former Hells Angels biker in Hamilton.
Several local businesses have also provided surveillance footage of the area where 49 year old James Louis Malone was gunned down early Saturday morning.
Police say they are focusing on three areas of forensic interest.
The first is at a home on Robins Avenue near Cannon Street where the initial interaction took place between Malone and a man carrying a shotgun.
Police say it resulted in the front door of the home being shot out and Malone fleeing eastbound on Cannon Street while being chased by the gunman and another white male driving a grey, Dodge Ram pick-up truck.
The second area is at Britannia Avenue and Kenilworth, where witnesses reported further shots being fired.
The third scene was outside of 225 Kenilworth Ave North where two store windows were shot out. This is where police say Malone had his final interaction with the gunman and was shot at close range.
The Dodge Ram then went southbound on Kenilworth and turned westbound onto Britannia Ave.
Police are also interested in tracing Malone’s whereabouts, and who he was with in the hours before his death.
It’s believed he was in at least one east end establishment where there may have been a verbal altercation between him and a woman.
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this possible interaction or any other incidents involving Malone on Friday night.
