Many political strategists have said if Toronto Mayor Rob Ford would only take some time, get some help, come back lean and mean he could win the next election.
And they may be right. Although by now I’m thinking even Ford Nation wouldn’t buy in.
The big caveat is ‘if’.
I don’t see that happening. Why?
Not because he is sick but because he is not very smart.
Yesterday during the circus in Toronto’s council chambers we saw Ford at his worst when he approached Denzil Minnan Wong.
The mayor crowded the councilor, standing so close to him, their bellies were almost touching.
He then told the councilor to ‘sit down’ .
This in your grill intimidation was so obvious a lady who was witnessing it raised her arms like a referee trying to separate them before it got even more out of hand.
In another similar situation the Mayor walked so briskly towards the councilor he was grabbed by his brother and pulled back.
It was like watching an episode of the Sopranos.
I can understand Torontonians wanting a fiscally responsible Mayor, but surely there must be an alternative to this white trailer trash side show.
I’m Scott Thompson.
