Environment Canada says a low pressure system from Colorado continues to track towards the Great Lakes and will rapidly intensify into a significant fall storm as it approaches Lake Superior later Sunday.
The associated cold front is forecast to reach Southwestern Ontario by early Sunday evening then blast east across the remaining regions over night.
Strong southerly winds of 50 gusting to 70 kilometers-per-hour are expected in some areas Sunday afternoon.
Much colder air will bring gusts up to 90 or above Sunday evening and into Monday morning.
A few gusts of 100 or more are possible in areas near the Great Lakes and higher ground, including southern Niagara Region and possibly the Hamilton area.
