Toronto city council has voted to take away more of Mayor Rob Ford’s powers.
Councillors voted to cut Ford’s office budget and hand many of his duties to the deputy mayor after an at times chaotic debate.
Ford’s brother Councillor Doug Ford called on the public to speak up against the vote.
Rob Ford has threatened to take legal action over what is now the third successful vote to take away his authority and compared the vote to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
The Bedlam amped up as critics and supporters engaged in verbal altercations in council chambers where at one point even Ford himself appeared to get involved.
The besieged mayor seemed to charge at a heckler, but instead knocked down another councillor.
The speaker called a recess as security tried to clear the public gallery and his brother called somebody a “punk!”.
Ford’s body guard also filmed those in the gallery, as the crowd chanted “for shame!”
