11 Hamilton area parks are going to be the focus of stepped up education and enforcement of Hamilton’s smoking bylaw.
And that includes Gore Park, Gage Park and Bayfront Park.
After the first year of the smoking ban, the Public Health committee has heard about a quarter of smokers now light up outside of parks but there’s more work to be done.
The fine for smoking in a Hamilton park is 250 dollars, and with surcharges, that comes out to about 305 dollars total.
26 charges have been laid in the first year.
