A group of Canadian companies, medical experts, and sports groups have banded together to get kids more active.
Their aim is to encourage the country’s provincial governments to bring more physical education back into Canada’s schools.
Canadian kids and youth are less active today then they have ever been in our nation’s history.
According to research 9 out of 10 Canadian kids do not get the needed one hour of exercise a day recommended by most in the know and obesity rates are climbing.
The initiative is called Active at School and is calling on all schools to integrate one hour of physical activity a day into their program.
The group says it has the money and expertise to make it happen.
What a novel idea, back in my day we called it ‘gym class’.
Why was it ever taken away?
Clearly, our kids really seem to be paying for it now.
Thank you political leaders for caving into who ever made this short sighted call years ago.
Good thing we have private industry to save us from our elected leaders.
I’m Scott Thompson.
