There are new concerns about so-called code zero events for ambulance services in Hamilton.
A code zero event is when there is one or less transport vehicle available to respond to an emergency.
Local OPSEU president Mario Posteraro, tells CHML’s Bill Kelly, not only has there been no improvement in the number of events in the past year, the length of the time ambulances are out of service has increased.
He says it’s just the latest number to suggest Hamilton needs increased front line staffing with more transport units on the road.
And he points to Niagara where they have five more units even though it gets half the number of calls.
