It’s election day in Canada, sort of.
Four by-elections today, two in Manitoba and one each in Ontario and Quebec, and although the results aren’t going to tip the balance of power in a majority government, they could offer a glimpse of things to come and give us some idea of how voters are feeling about the three main Party Leaders.
There are so many sub plots here.
Do the Trudeau Liberals actually have some momentum as the polls suggest ?
All three leaders are counting on their personal persuasion to gain momentum in Quebec , and of course, they all covet a victory in voter-rich Toronto.
Has the Senate Scandal and the Prime Minister’s Office involvement turned voters away from Team Harper ?
Most polls show all three major Parties just a couple of percentage points apart , so all three leaders will be trying to create some distance between themselves and the other two.
Today’s by-elections are less about policy and more about a performance review of the three Leaders over the past year.
The Big Show, the next Federal election, won’t happen until 2015, but tonight’s results may offer a preview of things to come .
