Calls for an increased police presence in a downtown parking lot is falling on deaf ears.
The manager of a take-out restaurant in the plaza at King and Caroline is calling for increased patrols following the second murder in the parking lot this year.
30-year-old McMaster University student, Tyler Johnson, was shot to death on Saturday morning following a dispute between two groups of men.
The manager of Vida La Pita says people who are drunk or on drugs spill out of Hess Village into the parking lot where they hang out.
He says it often leads to fights.
Police spokeswoman Debbie McGreal-Dinning says officers don’t target specific businesses, they respond to calls.
Downtown councillor Jason Farr suggests the businesses hire a special duty officer to patrol the plaza.
