Is it possible the slave like labour ideologies of late could be subsiding as companies realize their cost cutting austerity measures and 24/7, all business all the time mentalities are actually costing corporations more money than it is saving?
Seems successful, well respected, companies like BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, General Electric, and even Goldman Sachs are telling their employees to disengage from the company during off hours. No email or work after business hours. Reason?
No they don’t care about you, but they do care about their bottom line.
Simply put, your ability to produce good quality work has been falling lately.
And quality is more profitable than quantity.
Especially when you factor in lost days, sick days or medical leave as a result of over worked employees who are burnt out after too many years with a smartphone and a demanding boss.
The slash and burn mentality of the recession is being replaced as employers are now fighting to keep those that are left, from exploding.
Employers are finally realizing, it’s pretty hard to attract quality employees to a sweat shop.
Does this mean you and I will see an improvement in our workplace?
Hmmm??? Can you put a genie back in the bottle?
