One person is unaccounted for after flames destroyed a home in central Hamilton Monday afternoon.
The blaze, which followed what is described as an explosion, happened over the noon hour on Wilson Street, right across the street from Beemer Park.
Firefighters spent about an hour ensuring that the flames didn’t spread before the home collapsed.
The age and gender of person who is unaccounted for have not been released.
There’s some question about what’s happened to the tenant, identified in the Spectator as Lynn Kingsbury.
Firefighters were told she was home, but some neighbours say she was seen leaving in her car with her two dogs.
Investigators are still looking for the cause.
The Ontario Fire Marshal will bring in heavy equipment Tuesday to start sifting through the rubble of the brick home.
