A date has been set to resume an inquest into the death of a Hamilton man who died in hospital after a confrontation with police at his home.
Andreas Chinnery was 18 at the time of his death in February of 2011.
The SIU has already cleared the officers involved of any criminal wrongdoing saying that the teenager had swore and swung a baseball bat at an officer before he was shot. Police had been called to the Barton Street apartment following noise complaints from a neighbour.
The inquest which is expected to begin on February.27th at Hamilton’s John Sopinka courthouse, last 12 days and hear from 15 witnesses will examine the events surrounding Chinnery’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar tragedies.
