We likely haven’t heard the last about the dispute over the Gore Park Buildings.
In a surprise move this week, the city granted the buildings heritage protection status.
In effect, that kills the demolition order held by a development group, which wants to tear them down and build a new 120-million dollar commercial, retail and residential complex.
The city and the developer had been in negotiations to save at last the facade of the more than hundred year old structures.
Those negotiations suddenly hit an impasse this week.
The development group is mulling over its legal options with spokesman Robert Miles calling the city’s treatment of the issue ridiculous.
