The Hamilton Bulldogs will not get a win for Christmas.
The Dogs falling 3-2 to Abbotsford in the shootout and extending their losing streak to five games.
Both teams exchanged chances in the first period but neither team could find the back of the net.
The scoring began at 4:35 of the 2nd when Hamilton forward Joonas Nattinen. Fournier and picking up the assists on Nattinens fourth of the season.
Five minutes later the Heat tied things up as Dean Arsene slid the puck past Dustin Tokarski at 9:56.
Hamilton would retake the lead before the end of the period when Joel Chouinard scored his first of the season to make it 2-1. Nattinen and Owens with the assists on the goal.
Abbotsford would tie it up again at 4:47 of the final frame. Ben Hanowski with the goal, his 10th of the season.
After 60 minutes the scored remained tied so the two teams went to overtime. In extra time the Heat had a couple chances on the power play but could not seal the deal.
In the shootout Granlund and Knight scored for Abbotsford as no Bulldog could beat the Heat netminder giving the visitors a 3-2 win.
Hamilton are back in actin Boxing Day when they visit the Toronto Marlies. Coverage on CHML begins at noon with the face off set for 1pm.
The Dogs return home Friday night for another game against the Marlies.
