The city of Hamilton is asking the province how it can get in on the gift card program to reimburse low-income families for food lost during the ice storm and resulting power outage
Wynne says Toronto stepped forward asking for the program, but adds that the province is willing to work with other cities too.
About 35 thousand homes lost power in Hamilton last weekend. Some customers, such as those in parts of Glanbrook and Ancaster, were without power for days.
Some spent Christmas in the dark in the hardest hit areas of north Flamborough.
