Early morning fire causes $300,000 in damage

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of an early morning blaze in west Hamilton.

Fire crews were called to a two storey building on Main Street West, between Haddon and Cline, just before 3 o’clock this morning.

Fire information officer Claudio Mostacci says it began in the kitchen of Rotana Resto-Bar, one of four commercial units in the building.

Firefighters extinguished the flames before they spread to the adjacent units and seven apartments on the second floor.

All five tenants in the apartments managed to get out safely.

Damage is estimated at 300-thousand dollars.
