The RCMP probe into containers filled with lab chemicals has expanded to another part of Hamilton.
Officers closed Highway 56 in Binbrook, from Hall Road to Haldibrook Road, for a few hours this morning to allow the Haz-Mat Unit to remove more suspicious barrels.
Yesterday, we were told a number of 20 litre containers filled with chemicals were found on a property on Trinity Road, between Book Road and Wilson Street in Ancaster.
The RCMP suggests the chemicals are “consistent with a synthetic drug lab” but it’s too early to confirm whether they’re from an illegal lab or a legitimate business.
The probe started Wednesday night when police received a call from a citizen who noticed the containers at a site on Trinity Road South.
The land is owned by the Ancaster Agricultural Society.
Ministry of Environment officials confirm the containers are “intact with no visible spillage.”
