City to seek funding for statue honouring Linc

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML

A proposal to spend 300 thousand dollars on a statue of Lincoln Alexander has been referred back to city staff.

City Councillors are voicing a high level of support for the tribute, but they want to find out if the federal and provincial governments would be willing to contribute before agreeing to pay for it.

The city will also be seeking support from the Conservative Party of Canada.

Ancaster Councillor Lloyd Ferguson suggests that Linc himself would laugh if he heard that the city was spending 300 thousand dollars on a statue of him.
