A Canadian actress is sharing her story of hope with Hamilton.
Comedian Mary Walsh of “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” says adopting her son and getting sober were the two best things that have happened in her life.
At a St. Joseph’s Healthcare breakfast event this morning, the 61-year-old from St. John’s, Newfoundland talked about her 25 year battle with alcoholism.
Walsh says she has now been sober for 21 years and first realized she had a problem when her son was 3 year old, and knew that she had to put down the bottle and get help.
Walsh is encouraging others to seek out the help and support they need, and is also calling on the federal government to move mentally ill inmates out of Canadian prisons and into healthcare institutions.
